Tuesday, 06 May 2008
A Saddle Up for St. Jude event benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be held on May 31st, 2008 at Norm & Arlene Bailey’s, Ewan, WA. The 8 mile trail ride will be held on the section of John Wayne Trail that goes through their property. The Volunteer Coordinator for this event is Sheree Black, Palouse Empire Appaloosa Club Secretary, who encourages everyone to participate.

By participating in or attending the event, you will help raise funds for the world’s premier pediatric cancer research center. These funds will help St. Jude in its ongoing fight against childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

All riders are encouraged to ride on the 8 mile round trip that starts at 11:00 AM on part of the John Wayne Trail with portions of the ride close to Rock Lake. A minium donation per rider of $25.00 is required. All horses will need to be shod as the railroad bed is quite rocky. Pack along a lunch that can be eaten after the trail ride is over. All donations/sponsors are welcomed, anyone or any business can make a donation that will be applied to a participating rider.

“Our goal in holding this event is to help the children of the world who are stricken with diseases like cancer, AIDS, sickle cell disease and other catasphrophic illness,” said Sheree, coordinator of the event. “St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a world leader in the fight against these diseases, and they have made great progress because of the help of people who participate in and donate to events like Saddle Up for St. Jude.”

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fund-raising organization, through events such as Saddle Up for St. Jude. For more information, please visit www.stjude.org.
