APHA Extends Contract with Will Rogers Equestrian Center
Fort Worth, Texas- The Will Rogers Equestrian Center will host the American Paint Horse Association World Championship Show through the year 2001. On May 30, APHA Executive Secretary Ed Roberts signed a contract with officials of the Will Rogers Equestrian Center stating the World Show will be held at the Fort Worth complex for the next five years. In addition, the APHA agreed to rent two extra rooms of the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall for each of the contract years. These new rooms will add an extra 50,000 square feet of facilities to future World Shows.
In the past, the APHA World Championship Show has been held in Fort Worth for three consecutive years. On the fourth year, the show was moved to a facility in the elsewhere. Because the World Show has outgrown most livestock facilities, the Executive Committee decided to sign the extended contract with Will Rogers Equestrian Center.
By keeping the show in Fort Worth, the Executive Committee hopes to make the APHA World Show enjoyable and convenient for all members. The Will Rogers Equestrian Center is one of the premier livestock facilities in the country, and it is located in a city with a rich heritage in the equine industry. This makes it an ideal location for the event.
The APHA World Show is a non-qualifying event open to all registered American Paint Horses. This year the show has increased in size, with 179 classes, 23 futurities, a select sale, and a trade show containing more than 100 exhibitors. With an estimated 1,500 horses and 6,000 people expected to attend, it will be the largest and most prestigious exhibition of American Paint Horses in the world.
Admission to all performances and activities is free throughout the show. For more information, contact the American Paint Horse Association at PO Box 961023, Fort Worth, Texas 76161[caron]2D0023, or call 817/439[caron]2D3400, extension 230.
