Youth of the Month: Tim Richardson
Photograph Not Available Tim Richardson is 16 and a sophomore at Mead High School. He rides and works with horses, but his greatest enjoyment is riding bulls.
Tim started riding calves at age 8, then at 10 went on to steers; cows at 12 and then on bulls at 14.
Tim may not be a champion bull rider yet, but he has already become a champion person. He is always ready to help another rider, and has even been known to jump in the arena to help out the bull-fighter, at the risk of his own hide.
Tim and his parents live in Colbert, where Tim helps to take care of their own horses, board horses, and broodmares. He does a great job of digging post holes and putting up fences (usually straight!), repairing fences, very experienced in the hay field, and general all around hand.
While helping around the farm and going to school, Tim also belongs to the `Maverick Jr. Rodeo Club', the `Eastern Washington Junior Rodeo Association', the `Cayuse Junior Rodeo Association' and the `Professional Western Rodeo Association.'
Tim can and does ride horses, but his first love is getting on a big, ugly, 1500 pound bull. He says, `that is the ultimate in living.'
Tim's goal in life is to win the National Championship at the NFR in Las Vegas, then on bareback and saddlebronc.
