Spots of Fun Appaloosa Association

The Spots Of Fun Appaloosa Association does not hold a charter with the Appaloosa Horse Club, Inc. in Moscow, Idaho. We are two Appaloosa Regional Clubs working together as an Association. We are comprised of the NORTH IDAHO APPALOOSA CLUB and the INLAND EMPIRE APPALOOSA CLUB, both of which are chartered clubs of the National Appaloosa Horse Club, Inc. in Moscow, Idaho.

Both clubs are "Dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the SPOTTED HORSES made famous by the Nez Perce Indians and known today as "APPALOOSA HORSES."

We are a family based organization, with activities for young and old alike. Our current membership ranges between the ages of 60 to 1 year of age. We have many activities during the year. Our biggest being our two horse shows held each summer. We have just completed our biggest show of the year, which is an APPALOOSA BREED SHOW held in Coeur d'Alene, ID. This event took place on the 13th and 14th of June and had contestants competing from all over the Northwest and Canada. Our show this year was very successful, good weather, great classes for youth, down to the ages of 6 years and under and adults of all ages.

Our next horse show is an OPEN TO ALL BREEDS SHOW, which will be held in Sandpoint, Idaho, on the 11th - 12th of July, at the Bonner County Fairgrounds. This will he a two judge event, with halter, showmanship and English classes held on Saturday and trail and western classes held on Sunday morning with a new event scheduled for Sunday afternoon. On Sunday afternoon we will be holding an open gymkhana for young and old alike. These are always fun events with barrel racing, pole bending, keyhole race, figure 8 stakes race and a flag race.

Other events held during the year are `our' Easter Social, which is geared towards the youth, with Easter egg hunts, games, contests and prizes for all. We also try to hold at least two trail rides a year, one in the spring and one in the early fall. These are open to anyone who wants to come along and ride with us, whether you have spots on your horse or not.

Our meetings are held monthly at one of the members residences, we try to float these around to make it handy for all of our members to get a chance to attend without having to always drive a great distance. We usually have a potluck meal with these meetings, get to do our business and then visit with friends that we don't get to see all the time. We are always open to new memberships whether you own a horse or not, maybe you are just interested in horses and want to be around good people who own them.

Our current membership is 67 strong including our youth.
