APHA: Hank Wiescamp to Sign Biography at APHA World Show

Hank Wiescamp, renowned Paint and Quarter Horse breeder, will attend the American Paint Horse Association's World Championship Show for the first-ever signing of his biography, The Hank Wiescamp Story. The event is scheduled for Monday, July 8, at the Western Horseman booth, where copies of the book may be purchased.

Wiescamp is one of the all-time leading breeders of AQHA Champions and Register of Merit qualifiers. He is also known for the Skipper W line of Quarter Horses that he created more than 50 years ago.

Wiescamp began breeding and raising Paint Horses prior to the formation of the APHA. His influence on the Paint Horse breed continues today. Two of the top four Lifetime Leading Performance Sires in the Points Earned category. Teddys Splash and Skip's Artist, are of Wiescamp breeding. Scotch Bar Tommy, who is third on the list, traces to Wiescamp-bred Spot Cash.

Written by Paint Horse Journal Assistant Editor Frank Holmes, the book contained 208 pages and 260 photographs, some rare and never before published. It chronicles Wiescamp's life from his boyhood days in southeaster Nebraska, through his early career as an auctioneer and part-time horse trader, to his present involvement with overseas horse sales. It also details the development of his Paint, Quarter Horse and Appaloosa programs.

The Hank Wiescamp Story is available in a softcover edition from your local book seller or directly from Western Horseman. It retails for $14.95 plus $2 per book for postage and handling. A limited edition hardcover is also available.
