Slide On Into The Reining Horse Association of the Northwest
The Reining Horse Association of the Northwest is presenting an opportunity for all of you Reiners to get involved. We are sure there are many of you out there wondering just how and why our club began and just what it will offer. The how and why are a combination of happenings. As we all read horse publications, it is becoming apparent that reining is the hottest equine sport in America today. That includes the Pacific Northwest! All of us who are working toward showing reiners have seen an increase in show entries over the last few years, as well as in the number and caliber of reining shows. More breed shows are adding reining to their events. It seems as though everyone wants to know how to turn `em around and slide `em into the dirt.
In June of 1991 a bunch of reiners from the Spokane area found themselves in Kennewick at the Summerfest Show which held a special reining in the evening. As we all chatted, it dawned on us that we had a need to get a reining club organized and active in our area. The Washington Reining Horse Association and all other new clubs are doing a super job of promoting reining in their areas, and we thought something similar would be appropriate for Spokane and its surrounding areas. The next week the Reining Horse Association of the Northwest was born.
Now for the what. The objectives of the Association are to promote and encourage the enjoyment and showing of reining horses regardless of the breed of horse or level of rider; to promote sanctioned reining competitions; and to educate interested parties, contestants and spectators so that they have a better understanding of reining horse performance. These objectives will be accomplished through regular meetings, bring-your-horse fun nights, clinics, shows, newsletters, video libraries, and any other ideas that YOU, the membership can put together.
We welcome everyone to join our organization and hope to see not only the individuals just beginning in the sport, but our area professionals and everyone in-between as well. If we all get involved in this endeavor we can help move WASHINGTON and the entire Pacific Northwest into the reining world limelight.
Thanks to the support of those who have shown interest as members and participants through the last seven years! As of April 1998 we have become NRHA affiliated, we will continue to strive to meet the demands of the beginner riders and those just beginning their interest in reining! We are anxious to watch this club continue to grow and will be looking for you at our meetings, clinics and shows held throughout the year!
For further information regarding the club and upcoming events please contact any of our officers. Thank you for your support.
