Hi, my name is Jessi Goble. I am nine years old and in the fourth grade. I think the Youth of the Month should be Katie Steffen.Katie has been helping me with riding. I like her teaching me because she never sticks with one thing too long. She likes to have fun and makes it fun for me. She thinks about what might be fun. Sometimes we practice western jumping. Sometimes she sets up a trail course, or other fun things.
Katie helped me with my first horse, Handsome. He's a 23 year old Quarter Horse. Sometimes Handsome gets a little lame in one leg. Katie gave me some exercises to keep his leg flexible and comfortable. Katie said her horse was stiff in one leg and now it is gone because she did those exercises.
Katie is a junior at Troy High School. She has been in 4H for many years. She's been president of 4H and a junior leader. She is also in FFA and does great trying. Katie does horses in 4H. Her horse's name is Mimi. Mimi is a 17 year old Arabian, but Katie says Mimi looks like a Quarter Horse and doesn't act like an Arabian.
Katie, my best friend Lindsey and I will represent a local saddle club. Katie will be the queen. Lindsey will be the first princess and I will be junior princess. It's a special honor. But Katie and Lindsey are special all the time.
