2nd Annual Inland Empire Barrel Racing Association Year End Awards Banquet
Sixteen deserving members of the Inland Empire Barrel Racing Association attended the club's year-end awards banquet November 9, 1996, at The Old Country Buffet in Spokane. The top four in the Open, 1000, 500, and Junior divisions were rewarded handsomely for their efforts in 1996.First place in each division were given beautiful buckles. Second place was monogrammed horse blankets. Third place was hand beaded halters, and fourth place was a monogrammed jacket. Other awards donated by area businesses and other IEBRA members were distributed evenly among the top 16 winners. This made for a wonderful haul for our members!
Special year-end awards were voted on by the general membership, and the winners included: Outstanding Service, Kristi Sweitzer; Most Improved, Candy Welter; and both the Sportsmanship and Hard Luck awards went to the very deserving Claudia Johnson.
New Officers are: President, Renae Baump; Vice President, Mary Kaplan; Secretary/ Treasurer, Michelle McCoy; Newsletter, Pam Rohr; and Awards Committee, Pat Heckart and Candy Welter. Kellie Bretthauer has graciously volunteered to be the Pee Wee Awards Chairman for our newly formed Pee Wee Year End Awards Division.
The IEBRA is a wonderful association to belong to, and the new officers are already hard at work making plans for a successful 1997 racing season. Tenatively, our first race is scheduled for March 15, at the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds.
