The Idaho Arabian Breeders Association formed in 1992 to meet the needs of Arabian horse breeders, professional Arabian Horsepersons, and Arabian enthusists. We have grown steadily since that time, offering Co-op Advertising for Members, Member Referral Services, through clinics, Open Horse Shows, and Public Education. We were the proud co-sponsor of the 1996 American Diabetes Association Horse-A-Thon with 199 riders in attendance and all proceeds to benefit the American Diabetes Association. Plans are in the works even now for the 1997 Horse-A-Thon.

The IABA has a booth annually at the Idaho Horse Expo where the general public can meet the Arabian horse, and pose for a souvenir photo with a Sheikh or Harem Girl and a Drinker of the Wind. Additionally, in the fall we host the Idaho All Arabian Country Classic Horse Show for pure and Half-Arabian horses. In 1996 we believe it was the largest Arabian Horse show in Idaho with 130 entries in the two day show. Emphasis is on Amatuer Handlers and owners are encouraged to get in the ring and enjoy the fun. Expect fun like a Watermelon Feed, and root for your favorites in the many classes offered. One of the crowd favorites is the In-Hand Trail course for young horses (and some very young handlers!) where horses 2 years and younger pick their way quietly through an obstacle course. A fun and practical class for young horses. In addition to the fun you will have, you will be rewarded with beautiful ceramic trophies for your efforts.

The Country Classic is also our opportunity to showcase the stallions that have been nominated to the Idaho-Bred Arabian Stallion Futurity. On Saturday evening a carefully choreographed presentation is made in the arena, complete with spotlights, music and stallions groomed to shining perfection. During the Classic, the nominated offspring from these stallions compete for special trophies and cash prizes. Check out the list of nominated stallions and join the excitment with your foals. These nominated stallions must be standing in Idaho and resulting offspring are eligible for the futurity program. During the show the IABA offers a Silent-Bid Stallion Service Auction on some of these fine stallions with proceeds going to support club activities.

The IABA organizes many fun events for its members. From relaxed potluck supper before each meeting to trail rides in some of Idaho's most scenic locations, members have the chance to socialize and have a good time while promoting their horses. Ownership of Arabian horses is not a requirement for membership and we always welcome new members , or anyone with an interest in promoting Arabian Horses. Our meetings are held the 4th Friday of the month. Meeting locations are announced in the monthly newsletter along with event notices, foal announcements, road trip, and show placings and more... For membership information, additional futurity information or a complimentary newletter call 1-800-327-6540 or 1-888-902-7333.
