Youth of the Month: Jennifer Bartlett, Jamie Lee Dockins, Marcie Joyce & Jenny Kohal

Four Bonner County, Idaho youth were recently ranked in the Top Ten during the National 4-H Judging Contest held in October in Louisville, Kentucky.

Jenny Kohal of Sandpoint, Idaho, is sixteen years old and is a member of the Ranch Horse 4-H Club, which is lead by Gail Curless. Jenny belongs to the Bonner County Junior Rodeo and represents the clubs as Junior Rodeo Princess. Her duties as Princess include participating in Rodeo Parades and in the Rodeo Grand Entry. Jenny is also a member of her high school's soccer team. Her team has competed in state competition for the last three years.

Marcie Joyce of Blanchard, Idaho, is seventeen. She is a member of the River City Riders 4-H Club, and her leader is Sharon Joyce, who also coached the judging team. Along with the team's ninth place finish, Marcie received three individual national judging awards, placing third in Halter, eighth in Oral Reasons and seventh Overall High Point Judge. Marcie's three year old Appaloosa "Suzie Q Plaudit" was named as Top Bonner County 4-H Green Horse, and she and Marcie are top competitors in local horse shows in both Western and English.

Eighteen year old Jennifer Bartlett is from Priest River, Idaho. She belongs to the Hoodoo Hoofbeats 4-H Horse Club, led by Ruth Erickson. This is Jennifer's third year in horse 4-H. Jennifer owns, trains and shows arabian horses. Jennifer and her nine year old bay Arabian gelding "Sailer" have captured many prizes in reining, trail, showmanship and equitation classes. Jennifer was named Top Senior Showman at 4-H District Competition last year.

Jamie Lee Dockins from Oldtown, Idaho, is thirteen years old and is also a member of the Hoodoo Hoofbeats 4-H Club. Jamie and her Appaloosa gelding, "Spec's Dr. T" have garnished many county and district jumping championships, along with high point awards in English and Western competition. Along with Jamie Lee's national team judging win, she placed second in her age category at the Idaho State Judging Contest held in Grace, Idaho in July 1996.
