Youth of the Month: Jessica Scott
Jessica Scott of Lewiston, Idaho was crowned Queen of the 49ers Saddle Club Dec. 18, 1994. Princesses are Candice Anderson,14, and Monique Baril,14, of Lewiston. The girls are all members of the 49ers and Hoof Beats 4-H Club. Jessica, the daughter of Paul and Teresa Scott is a sophomore at Lewiston High School and is on the Honor Roll. She rides a six-year-old Sorrel mare named Rosebud Cloud. Scott has been riding horses since the age of two. The past few years she has been helping her dad train the young horses that their mares have been having. This also includes helping with Rose and now training her to run barrels.
Jessica is also a member of SADD, DECA and is a manager for the LHS wrestling team. She placed third overall at the Lewiston Roundup this year in barrel racing. In the summers she plays softball and works for the City of Lewiston.
Candice Anderson, a Freshman at Sacajewea Junior High School in Lewiston is the daughter of Gary and Barbara Jo Anderson. She is on the Honor Roll and plays in the band at school. Anderson will be riding her horse Tina Meyers, a seven-year-old Sorrel mare. She has been riding for two years and acquired Tina when she started riding.
Candice attended the 1994 State Judging Competition in Caldwell. She also was one of twelve girls to qualify for the first round of barrel racing at the Lewiston Roundup this year.
Monique Baril, the daughter of Brenda Wahner, an 8th grader at Bible Way Christian Academy is on the Honor Roll. She rides a 20-year-old Bay Quarter Horse gelding, Spotted Music (Chip). Baril has been riding for six years. She is also active in volleyball and basketball at school.
Monique went to the District 4-H Horse Show in Princeton. She is active in showing and 4-H. In 1993 she won the 4-H All Around Horse Project. Chaperones for this year are Holly Hocum and Shelly Miles. They will accompany the girls to various activities that they will be participating in throughout the year.
The girls have been raising money for their outfits. They held an O-Mok-See January 21. They will also be at all of the 49ers events such as the annual 49ers Jr. Rodeo held in July.
