Hermiston Sale Study Complete

The study of what affects the auction sale price of a horse,
as conducted by Professor Ken Duft (WSU) & his daughter, Keeley, is completed and available to horse enthusiasts interested in the economics of horse auctions.

Data for the study was accumulated from the sale of 899 horses at the Fall 1994, Winter 1995, and Spring 1995, Hermiston Horse Extravaganzas, the largest horse auctions in the Pacific Northwest. Factors like conformation, breed, pedigree, sex, age, color & training do have a relationship to the auction price of a horse and test positive for statistical significance. If you want to know about this, get the book: EB1821 Equine Auction Economics, Factors Affecting the Auction Sale Price for Horses in the Pacific Northwest, May 1996, by Ken Duft and Keeley Duft, Department of Agricultural Economics, Cooperative Extension, Washington State University, Pullman WA 99164-6210.
