Club News * November 1998

Mid-Columbia Quarter Horse Association members have been having a very successful year! The Southeastern Washington Show Circuit, held in Walla Walla, Washington, and put on by MCQHA and associate clubs, was the largest to date! Besides club sponsored riding, grooming, and trail clinics for club members' benefit; individual members have been doing very well this year.

Mike Scherr achieved an American Quarter Horse Association Champion standing with his gelding, A Dazzling Dude! It's quite an achievement and Mike is to be congratulated for it!

Rosemary Adams' 1998 stallion, Timeless Masterpiece, won under all judges the weanling colt division: 1998 Northwest Quarter Horse Congress Stallion Futurity, N.W. Congress Open Futurity, N.W. Congress Circuit Champion, Washington State High Point Weanling Colt, Washington State Stallion Futurity and won the Oregon State Stallion Futurity! Timeless Masterpiece is competing at the AQHA World Championship Show - November 1998.

The Wilkerson Ranch's Stallion, Maltese Falcon, was N.W. Congress' High Point money earning sire, 1998. Two Teasable, owned by Larry Wilkerson, tied first & second in N.W. Congress late weanling fillies. Erik Wilkerson and Gratuitease placed fifth, early 1998 fillies N.W. Congress; and first, Washington State Quarter Horse Association weanling fillies. Wilkerson Ranch's, Watch This Star, was fourth, late fillies, N.W. Congress. Lori Wilkerson's Mr. Tardee By Design was second in late colts, N.W. Congress & Lori's, The Star Teaser, was High Point WSQHA 2 year old gelding & Amateur 2 year old gelding!

Lori, and The Star Teaser won the MCQHA club sponsored show circuit Amateur high point award and the MCQHA year end Amateur Champion Halter Horse, and Res. Champion Open Halter award.

JoAnn Brown did well all year with her new cutting horse, Annies Peppy. She won the MCQHA sponsored Open Show Circuit high point, many open and amateur cutting classes, and she won two N.W. Congress silver belt buckles, in Senior Horse Cutting and Amateur Cutting! JoAnn and Annies Peppy also won MCQHA Champion year end High Point Open and Amateur Cutting awards.

Pat DesChane, riding Triviola Goldenea won 3rd in Open and Amateur Cutting, Washington State High Point Year End Awards.

Jim Cox placed fourth WSQHA High Point Open & Amateur Cutting, with his horse, Sweet Lil Badger.

Walt Burrus and Talisman Tucker, won MCQHA Reserve Champion year end High Point in Open and Amateur Cutting.

Pepper Farrens and Sass Cee Tease, purchased from Karen Quinn, did well all year. Sass Cee Tease placed first and second Washington State Yearling. Mare Futurities and did well at the N.W. Congress. Sass Cee Tease is Champion MCQHA Year End High Point Open Halter Horse, and Washington State High Point Yearling Mare. Pepper and another horse, JJS Sucha Smash, purchased from Scott and Jackie Johnston, did well at the State level, winning first in Open Aged Stallions, and second WSQHA Amateur Aged Stallions High Point, and is Reserve Amateur MCQHA High Point Halter Horse.

Karen Quinn did a great job helping fit Timeless Masterpiece, A Dazzling Dude, and Sass Cee Tease. Karen is the Washington State Reserve Champion Halter Breeder. Pepper Farren's Sass Cee Tease is Reserve Champion Washington State Halter Bred horse. Wilkerson Ranch placed third in Washington Halter Breeders and Scott & Jackie Johnston placed fourth.

Scott Johnston placed fourth WSQHA High Point with Maggies Touch.

Sharon Wood and Serenitease did well all year. Sharon qualified Serenitease to go to the World Show, 1998 yearling fillies.

Bea Gowdy and BG Sucha Conclusion won third in early weanling colts Oregon Stallion Futurity, and first in the PNWQHA Futurity under both judges. Bea and BG Sucha Conclusion also took first in the PNWQHA Open Weanling Colts of 1998.

Tonie Towers and Favorite Playtoy, won the Novice Amateur division of the MCQHA sponsored Show Circuit High Point honors and also the year end MCQHA High Point Champion Novice Amateur award.

Congratulations to all our MCQHA winners. Beautiful High Point Awards will be handed out at the MCQHA Annual Awards Banquet, and election of officers December 6th, 1998.
