Youth of the Month: Molly Pinch
Molly Pinch is 15 years old, and is currently a sophomore at Mead High School. She is an active member of 4-H, and has attended many horse related programs through 4-H, including many successful competitions with her horses. Molly has been actively involved with horses since she was seven years old.
One of Molly's favorite horses is Rekina, a twenty-eight year old Pony that she has owned for many years, and in Molly's own words, "Rekina has taught me everything about riding and partnership with a horse." Molly has used Rekina for barrel racing and gaming, but retired her a few years ago out of love and respect for Rekina's age. Molly and Rekina went to their last state competition in 1994, and Molly still owns Rekina and has provided her with continued care, comfort and much love.
Molly now competes on a 10 year old Quarter Horse/ Appaloosa named Chinook. Molly and Chinook compete in gaming events and have advanced to state competitions in 1996 and 1997. This is a competition a young rider must quality for on the local level before advancing to state level competition. She gives Chinook credit for having an attitude and willingness to please, that has helped them reach their goals together.
Molly feels that 4-H has helped her start off on the right "Hoof" when she was younger. Molly and her horses have competed at the state level three times in recent years, and Molly remains active in the 4-H program. The 4-H program has been a positive experience for Molly and her involvement with horses since she was in elementary school. Molly attributes her continued interest and success in horses and "getting started in the right direction" to her family, friends and supportive 4-H leaders who have encouraged her.
Molly Pinch is currently President of Mead High School's Multi-Cultural Group, Planet Mead, and has been involved since it began in 1995. Molly has also been actively involved with her Hebrew studies since she was eight years old. She is currently an active member of the NWPRA, a horse gaming club in Airway Heights. Molly gives riding lessons to young children of family friends and she enjoys pleasure riding when time permits.
Molly Pinch has had many accomplishments as a young horse enthusiast, who is very interested in pursuing a life with horses. She is devoted to a well balanced relationship with her horses, family and her community.
