Weaver Quarter Horse Production Sale

A huge crowd representing 38 states and five Canadian provinces were in attendance at the 8th Annual Weaver Quarter Horse Sale in Great Falls, MT. The sale was held on September 21st and again proved the faith that horse owners have in the Weaver program.

Stan and Nancy Weaver, owners of Weaver Quarter Horses, have spent the last 28 years developing their breeding program. They proudly mark their horses with the brand, which the Weaver family recorded in 1888. Stan and Nancy's children KellyAnne, David and Daniel, are the fifth generation to ride with this brand. The Weaver's are well known for their foundation and premiere bred Quarter Horses with speed, good bone, feet and withers. Their cow sense, athletic ability, disposition, color and outstanding conformation are recognized throughout the industry.

Stallions owned by the Weavers and representing their bloodlines are Ima Bit Of Heaven, a six year old red roan son of Smart Little Lena and the great mare Peppys From Heaven (Peppy San Badger and Royal Blue Boon); PC Joes Frost, a four year old chestnut son of Sun Frost and Boon Bar/ Bar None Joe mare; Poco Ima Doc, a 1988 black grandson of Poco Bueno out of an own daughter of Docs Prescription; Poco Doc De Oro, a 1984 buckskin grandson of Poco Bueno and an own daughter of Docs Adonis; Doc Ima Leo, a 1994 buckskin son of Docs Decatholon and a Zaydin's Leo daughter; Ima Tuf Lena a 1999 buckskin son of Tuf N Busy by Bueno Chex and Smart Bo Lena by Smart Peppy Lena a full brother to Smart Little Lena and introducing Dox Smart Travaler, a 1997 brown son of Travalena and the royal cutting mare Dox Smart Buy. "Travaler" only stallion out of this prominent cross.

Eight years ago the Weavers joined with Treasure State Quarter Horses to put on their first production sale. Owners Una and Todd Ford, along with her parents, Ted and Barb Crowley, have been valued participants in the sale offering up top horses. Like the Weavers their families have been ranching in the Bears Paw Mountains for many years. They stand two stallions, PC Mr Sun Peppy, a 1996 golden palomino son of Sun Frost and a Peppy San Badger/Sak Em San bred mare and Fire Me a Winner, a 1995 bay stallion by Taylor Jess Tivio out of a King Fritz/Win or Lose bred mare.

The horses being offered were well conditioned despite severe drought conditions and showed strong muscle definition, good bone, conformation and a variety of color. There was something for everyone from futurity prospects to 4-H projects. The Weaver sale is well-known for selling all their horses with no reserves or minimum bids - every horse going through the ring has a new owner. Repeat buyers commanded attention bidding and buying with confidence.

Auctioneer Lynn Weishaar of Reva, South Dakota, and pedigree reader John Johnson of Piedmont, South Dakota set the pace for an energetic and quick moving sale.

The sale began with a tribute to America when the American Flag was brought into the ring on horseback with a recorded recitation of "America, Why I Love Her" by John Wayne playing in the background. Respect and excitement set the mood for the sale and soon the auction was underway.
