The Spokane Association of REALTORS has been named Business
Sponsor of the Year 1999-2000 by the Wishing Star Foundation for fulfilling the
wishes of three area youngsters faced with serious illness.The Association raised $8,000 to fund the local project. Each year, REALTORS select a number of local charities for donations. THe Wishing Star is again on the donor list.
Wishing Star Executive Director Holly K. Stetson said, "Our stars always come through, and we appriciate all the effort by groups who make these wishes come true".
Wishing Star used funds for an 11 year old girl with leukemia who wished for a trip with her family to Disney World last October. She is currently in remission.
Another child wished for a horse, and this 12 year old who has aplastic anemia now has a black and white pinto horse who she claims is "perfect".
A legally blind 15 year old with chronic renal failure wished for a special computer. With the computer he typed a thank you letter saying that he loves the games and enjoys the speech on the computer.
