World Championship Appaloosa Horse Show Coming Soon
MOSCOW, ID - Mark your calendars and dust off your boots...the 38th World Championship Appaloosa Horse Show is approaching quickly. You won't want to miss the action this October 29 - November 6, 1999 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Tx. Be prepared for nine days filled with roping, reining, and riding excitement.There will be a variety of events from Steer Daubing to the Camas Prairie Stump Race that will keep you entertained as you watch exhibitors and their Appaloosas show off the results of their hard work. As the clock strikes 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, you will want to be in the John Justin Arena for the Team Penning competition. This is one event guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat. Once again J & B Tack & Western Wear will sponsor the Team Penning event, contributing a total of $3,000 in cash awards with $2,250 going home with the winner and $750 going to the highest placing Non-Pro team. Be one of the first 250 people through the door this night and get a free souvenir!
There will be some outstanding cutting performances during the Breeders' Cutting Futurity on Saturday, October 30 and Sunday, October 31. You will want to be there to see who will captivate you with the best run. The purse is expected to be $25,000 and there will be a saddle and buckles sponsored by Sergeant's Western World and the ApHC as well as an embroidered horse blanket donated by Martin Adam Boon. The top five competitors go home with cash and awards and the owners of each winner's sire and dam will receive a percentage of the earnings.
Another example of the must-see-action will take place on Friday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m. Sponsored by Sky Appaloosas of Texas, the Most Colorful at Halter Class will kick off the night's events as the "most colorful" Appaloosas compete for the World Championship title. Following this event, the Freestyle Reining performances will begin. Toys for Tots will take place at this time and spectators are encouraged to bring a toy or cash donation as admission. Proceeds will be given during the holidays to under-privileged children in the Fort Worth area. The Freestyle Reining competition will fill the arena with spinning, sliding, music and costumes as exhibitors compete for a place in the top ten. Sergeant's Western World has donated $5,000 in cash which will be divided among the top five exhibitors. In addition to this prize money $1,000 in cash awards will be given to the top two Non-Pro exhibitors. This night is another opportunity for you to take home a free souvenir if you are one of the first 250 people through the doors, don't be late!
You won't want to miss the World Championship Appaloosa Sale this year, which, for the first time will have two sessions. We are proud to present Session I: The Preferred Pleasure-Bred Yearling Sale and Session II: The Preferred Show Horse & Breeders Sale. Session I will showcase a super elite and limited group of yearlings bred especially for western pleasure or hunter under saddle. Each yearling is automatically eligible to enter the ApHC's Two Year-Old Western Pleasure or Two Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle class at the 2000 World Show in which these horses compete ONLY against their sale contemporaries for an incentive fund purse. Session II will showcase numerous World Show qualifiers as well as show horses and broodmares chosen for their present and future contributions to the Appaloosa horse industry. While you are out and about, be sure to visit the commercial exhibit trade show (open daily 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) located in the John Justin arena, Brown Lupton Room, W.R. Watt arena, and outside along Rip Johnson Drive. Over 40 different vendors will offer many shopping opportunities; a great chance to start your Christmas shopping.
Throughout the show, over $100,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to the winners. Prizes include World Champion buckles, trophies, trailers, saddles, and ribbons. This nine day event with all the prizes and awards would not be possible without the support and contributions of our wonderful sponsors. Some of

Exhibitors and their Appaloosas have worked hard to get to this level of competition. Many have competed in the National show and/or one or more of the 900 regional shows held throughout the year to qualify for this honor. Classes start daily at 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Admission is free and the whole family will enjoy the competitions of the colorful and versatile Appaloosas and their exhibitors.
