PAINT SPOTS OCTOBER 99
by Jeri StoneWe are now on the "downhill" swing of the 1999 Paint Horse Show season. With only a few more shows but majorfuturities coming up - it should be a great ending to a really good season.
The 1999 Zone One Show is now history and I do not know where to start or what to say about this huge show. All kindsof records were broken, many, many APHA points were earned, the hours were late, the number of entries and horses werethe largest ever and most everyone was happy with all aspects of the show. The awards were outstanding and the HighPoints to five places (thanks to the Zone One Amateur Club) were really appreciated. The entries per judge were 862 forthe first set and 803 for the second with a total of 4995 plus 12 breeding stock and over 125 NWCC Futurity Horses signedup. We were within 10 stalls of running out of space and the camping spaces were very adequate this year. All in all the1999 Zone One Show was an outstanding success. Thank you Ross Brown and crew for all the many and late hours you allput in to help accomplish this. Also to Pacific Mobile Structures, Inc. for the use of the Show Office and Judges Room,Zone One Amateur Paint Horse Club for the 3rd. 4th. & 5th. place Overall High Point Sheets, Jim Taylor Saddle & Leather,Inc. for the Bill Taylor Memorial Saddle, Diablo Silversmiths for the Custom Buckles and a very special thank you to allthe club who donated sponsorships and/or help at the show. A particular big "thank you" to Sky Ranch Trailer Sales whostepped in at the last minute to sponsor the Zone One Jackets and the All Around Open Horse Award. Without all thisspecial sponsorships and help our Zone One Show would not be the annual success it has become.

If I might borrow a quote I found in a recent club newsletter - "As this show year winds down, think back and reflect onyour individual accomplishments. Be sure to thank ... all those that helped you get where you were going. Friendships arethe best things there are, so cherish those that you have. Be thinking about what you can do for your club and step to theplate and volunteer to help or run for a club office."
Until next month I want to say - "Keep the information coming and thank you." Jeri Stone (360) 295-3477 or e-mailme at: sptspots@toledotel.com or write me at 149 Coma Road, Winlock, WA 98596
