The Spokane Area Small Horse Association, S.A.S.H.A
Do you own a Miniature Horse, Pony, Small Donkey or Mule? Or maybe you would like to own one, but you're just not sure where to start? The Spokane Area Small Horse Association could be the answer to these questions, and any others you have about our wonderful, small equine friends!
The Spokane Area Small Horse Association is a group of small horse and pony owners which formed in the Inland Northwest two years ago to promote "fun" shows. After the first few meetings, this group expanded their membership to include all participants with horses and donkeys under 14.2 hands.
SASHA members meet bi-monthly in the spring, summer and fall, to plan and attend fun shows, enjoy potlucks, and share new ideas. In the Spring, an "Open House" is held with various booths and speakers covering everything from how to purchase the correct harness for your Mini, to new techniques in floating teeth. This year SASHA held two fun shows, one in June and the second in August. Shows are casual, relaxed, and fun for both youth and adults. A judge is contracted for each show, and they give participants valuable help and information on the fine techniques of showing your best.
A quarterly newsletter is published with news of our recent activities, calendar of area shows and horsey activities, plus upcoming SASHA events. So, if you have any questions about small horses, donkey or mules, or if you would like more information on SASHA, please call Shelley, 509-467-6046.
