Production Horse Sale Results
The 2000 'Come To The Source' Production Horse Sale was held August 26 in Laramie, Wyoming. 267 people registered with interest from Canada, U.S., Mexico & Europe. It was standing room only as the sale began with a choice bid on two full brothers offered by Randy Dunn. "Hesa Roan Hancock", a red roan two-year old stallion (Plenty Try x Ms Lady Blue Jeans) was the bidder's choice at $6,800. He was the second highest-selling horse, going to Scott Johnson of Berthoud, Colorado.
The high seller was "Reds Jet Valentine", a yearling red roan filly (Valentine Red Rogers x Plenty Jet Red) going for $7,600 to Jim Leachman of Leachman Cattle Company in Billings, Montana.
The third high seller was "Gerries Blue Lady", a two-year old black filly (Gerries Valentine x Blue Ladywood). She sold for $6,600. Valentine's Dot, a three-year-old bay filly (Ruano Rojo x Drifty's Dot) was fourth high-seller at $6,000 and Blue Drift Hank, a red roan stallion (My Drifty Pride x Red Hawk Blues) was fifth high-seller at $5,900.
The top ten horses averaged $5,690. The weanlings averaged $2,784, and the average for the entire sale was $3,324. The volume buyer was Jim Leachman of Leachman Cattle Company.
The horses went to 20 different states. Among those, 13 will be making their home in Texas, 4 in Mississippi, and 1 in New York. The producers, Randy Dunn, Chip Merritt, Sam Shoultz & Dick Van Pelt, would like to thank the people behind the scenes, those who attended, and all past and present buyers for helping create a successful sale. They appreciate the interest shown in their horses and enjoy sharing information and history of their breeding programs. Next year's 'Come To The Source' Sale is scheduled for August 25, 2001.
