July 12, 2003 In-Hand Trail
Working Ranch Horse Clinic

The turnout was better than expected for our July 12 clinic at the Grant County Fairgrounds. It was a hot, dry day at the outside 4-H arena. About 50 horses attended, four of which came from Yakima, Washington to participate in the In-Hand Trail and Working Ranch Horse Clinic. For both events we had obstacles set up and a mock show after working on the obstacles. Prizes were donated by DeAguiar Farms of George, WA, Second Chance Ranch of Moses Lake, Wesco Overhead Door, King Ranch and Arena of Coulee City, Dwaine McIntocsh, DVM of Moses Lake, Carolyn's Quarter horses of Moses Lake, The Tack Shop of Moses Lake, Diamond D Ranch of Moses Lake, KT Ranch of Connell, and BNB Quarter Horses of Moses Lake.
The clinic ran from 9:30am-4:00pm with lunch served by the Washington Foundation Quarter Horse Club. Class winners were Brandi Fingar for the yearling In-Hand Trail, Shelly Windmer for the two year old In-Hand Trail, and Chris Meng for 3 year and older In-Hand Trail. For Working Ranch Horse Ron Coombs won the adult division and Megan Olsen won the 13 and under division.
In-Hand Trail classes will be offered at the Grant County Fair on August 16, and at the Whitman County Fair in Colfax. Please contact the fair board for more information on these classes.
The WaFQHC is still selling tickets for the Stallion Raffle, please contact Don Pierson at (509)234-5881 or ktranch@3-cities.com
