Every year the Inland
Empire Tennessee Walking Horse Association puts on a two day
show for the Tennessee Walking Horse people of the Pacific Northwest.
It attracts exhibitors from Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon,
North Dakota, Canada and Wyoming to name just some of the states
they come from. This is a Class "A" show, with points awarded
for National recognition.
This
year the show will be held, as always, at the Spokane County Fairgrounds
on August 3rd and 4th. The show has 92 classes including a Lead
Line Class for Developmentally Challenged children. Last year
this was one of our largest classes and one of the most popular
with the spectators. The look of joy on the kids' faces was a
sight to behold.
We have
shod-up classes, versatility classes, driving classes, unique
classes and fun classes. This year we are having an exhibition
"Walk For The Roses" with local law enforcement officers riding
the Walking Horses. This is an actual race with the horses in
a "running walk" gait. It is always fun and exciting for both
the riders and the spectators. We also have a "For Sale" class
where Walking Horses that are for sale are paraded around the
ring for all to see. This is a good opportunity to get a good
walking Horse and learn more about the breed. The barns are open
for viewing the horses too.
Admission
to the show is canned goods for the Spokane Area Food Banks or
a donation to the Humane Society. We would love to see a lot of
new faces in the spectator's seats.
