In 1989 he was the AQHA World Champion Junior Reining Horse; 1992 World Champion Senior Working Cow Horse - Top 5; and gained an additional World Championship title as the 1993 Sr. Working Cow Horse. POTENTIAL INVESTMENT: Wishing Star feels privileged to offer (once again) a service to this magnificent 15.3 hand bay stallion, 'Potential Investment.' He's out of a good show mare, 'Hot Little Treasure.' She is sired by world renown 'Hottrodder Jet Set,' and out of 'Treasure Sail,' earner of over 800 AQHA points. 'Potential Investment's' sire is the great 'Principle Investment,' a Congress Champion and highest money earner in the Nation in 1989. 'Potential Investment' is definitely a great show horse. RADICAL RODDER: Wishing Star is honored to have the 1998 AQHA Champion Senior Western Pleasure Stallion, RADICAL RODDER. This 15.1 HH, brown stallion begin his show career in 1993, where he placed 3rd at the AQHA World Show in the 2-Year-Old Snaffle Bit Western Pleasure. His show career continued in 1994 and 1995 capturing co-champion in the 3-4 Year-Old Western Pleasure at the Nebraska Silver Classic, 3rd at the Congress Three-Year-Old Derby, Denver Circuit Champion in Junior Western Pleasure, and 4th at the Congress Western Pleasure Maturity. With successful earnings of over $15,000 after limited showing, Radical was retired from the show pen with (4) Halter and 21.5 Western Pleasure points. After two years of retirement and about sixty days of prepared training under the guidance of Cleve Wells, Radical returned to the show arena wining several circuit awards, AQHA points, and completing his Superior Western Pleasure award in 60 days and qualifying for the World Show. In the fall of that same year, he was the Reserve Champion Sr. Western Pleasure at the 1998 Congress and culminated the season at the AQHA World Show where he won the 1998 World Championship in Sr. Western Pleasure. The season also resulted in Radical becoming the High Point Sr. Western Pleasure Stallion for 1998. Retired again, 'Radical Rodder' offspring are showing their breeding, having brought in over $65,000 in futurity earnings, so far, and have won over $7,000, in Incentive Fund earnings on over 500 AQHA points. SWEET TALKING CHIP: Another outstanding stallion coming to the Gallop line-up this year. This 15.2 hh, dark Bay stallion, is sired by Congress and World Champion, 'Zips Chocolate Chip'. He is out of 'Talkin Sweet' who earned 58 AQHA points. 'Sweet Talking Chip' has earned 41 points with limited showing in AQHA events. He was the high money earning pleasure horse of 'All Ages' and 'All Divisions' in 1994. Winner of over $35,000 in Western Pleasure monies - more than any other pleasure horse in the nation that year. Shortly after being titled the 1993 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Reserve Champion, 'Lean With Me' suffered a near fatal injury of a fractured pelvis that almost ended his career. With God's blessings, a great trainer (Bobby Avila), and the love and prayers of his owners and admirers, 'Lean With Me' beat all the odds and came from a cripple to a champion, making his mark in the AQHA Industry. In 1994 he returned to the show ring, competing in the Bruce Gilcrest Memorial Futurity & winning the OQHA Reining Championship. From there it was on to the AQHA World Show, where he earned his first AQHA World Championship in 'Junior Working Cow Horse.' He wasn't through winning. In 1995, he returned - once again - to win the OQHA Reining Championship; earned an AQHA Superior in Reining; won the prestigious NRHA Derby; and returned to the AQHA World Show to gain another title as the '1995 AQHA World Champion Senior Reining Horse.' PRIME TIME CHEX: 'As precise as a quartz digital and as flashy as a Rolex,' this 1988 chestnut stallion, has been a huge success in the show ring. He has proven himself winning the Hollywood Reining Royale Championship for 4-year olds; Limited Open NRHA Futurity Champion in Oklahoma City; winner of the Blue Ribbon Classic $7,500 NRHA Open Championship, the Lazy E NRHA Open Championship; the $1,500 NRHA Open Championship at Del Mar, the $3,500 NRHA Open Championship at Santa Barbara, and was Reserve Champion of the $5,000 NRHA Open in Bakersfield. He climaxed his show season by winning the NRHA $5,000 Added Saddlesmith Open Championship. GREAT RED PINE: Wishing Star feels privileged to offer another 'hot' Reining Stallion standing in the great Northwest, 'Great Red Pine.' This 1988 Dun stallion is sired by 'Great Pine,' one of NRHA's Leading Sires and Maternal Grandsires, and also a member of the NRHA Hall of Fame. His dam, 'Nifty Jodieann,' was recently inducted into the NRHAs Hall Of Fame. She too is also one of NRHA's leading producing dams.
'Great Red Pine' was the horse to beat in the 1991 and 1992 aged events. He started his career with a co-champion at the OVRHA Futurity. He went on to win the first go of the Congress Futurity, tied third in the finals, and then finished fourth in the NRHA/OKC Futurity. The following year, 'Great Red Pine' placed fifth at St. Paul Derby, won the Limited Open Carolina Classic, then moved on to the Superstakes for the Limited Open Championship and the Open Reserve Championship. He finished the year with a Reserve Championship at the Congress in Junior Reining. 'Great Red Pine' is the highest money-earning son of 'Great Pine,' earning over $60,000 in sixteen lifetime runs with the average score of 220. 'Great Red Pine' offspring are following in their sire's footsteps. Such is true of: 'Wendy Red Pine' Youth 18 & Under Championship at the 1996 NRHA-OKC Futurity; and most recently - 'Miss Tinseltown' with rider Tim McQuay - winning the National Reining Breeders Classic Open Championship. 'Miss Tinseltown' wowed the crowd as McQuay's last finalist with a 233.5 score. McQuay praised 'Miss Tinseltown,' 'I don't think there's another one out there like her. She's a great mare. She's gritty like a stud - the harder you ask her, the harder she tries. It's hard to find a mare that has that grit, because a lot of mares just can't take the pressure,' he said. 'Miss Tinseltown' was scheduled to show in the NRHA Derby in May, with a foal by 'Footworks Finests' due in the spring of 2000. McQuay also bred 'Miss Tinseltown,' via embryo transfer, to 'Hollywood Dun It.' People have been chasing owner David Silva Sr. trying to buy 'Miss Tinseltown,' but he's not going to sell her. His first show debut was at the NWSC where he earned 2 Grands, 1 Reserve and a Circuit Championship. ZIPPIN: Wishing Star's highest selling Paint Horse Service at last year's 1999 Gallop is once again back in the 2000 line up. Wishing Star is excited to offer a breeding to Superior Western Pleasure stallion, 'Zippin.' With very limited showing, 'Zippin' has earned 77 Pleasure points. Our wish kids are referred to us from lots of places and people. Neighbors, teachers, physicians, family, nurses, and friends, all have referred children with life threatening illnesses to Wishing Star. Often the child's family knows the referral, but we get anonymous referrals too. When a child is referred, Wishing Star contacts the family to see if they are interested in a wish. In sharing only a few of these 'wishes,' keep in mind that those of you who participate at this years Gallop as a spectator, sponsor, booth exhibitor, stallion owner or committee member will help to make these wishes a reality. HOW CAN YOU HELP IN WISHING STAR'S MISSION?
That is a question we are asked by many people and there are a number of ways. One is financially. It is a constant battle to raise the money to get the Wishes done as quickly as possible. Another is to become a Wishing Star volunteer. Give some of your time. We have a number of people who volunteer through our office in Spokane and we can always use more. We also have chapters made up of volunteers in a number of communities where extra help is always needed.
