The Little Show That Grew!
by Ursula Jensen, PNFPG Ad CommitteeWhen the Libby Montana Nordicfest Committee invited a few Fjord Horse owners to enter their mounts in their annual ethnic celebration parade, little did they know that this one act would be the beginning of the largest Fjord Breed Show in North America.
That was 14 years ago and the Libby Show quickly became a showcase for the breed and a chance for owners/ breeders to develop their showmanship skills and a chance to present the versatility of this wonderful breed.
The Norwegian Fjord Horse has an unmistaken reputation for being a versatile breed that is especially suited as a family horse and the Libby Show has always reflected this theme. Members work hard to maintain an inclusive, yet challenging program where all disciplines of horsemanship can be shown in an atmosphere of friendly competition.
From it's original show in 1986 where only a few members participated in halter, riding and driving, this `little' show has grown to a two day venue with a variety of challenging and family fun type classes. The show is open to only purebred stock and has drawn owners/ breeders from as far away as New England, the Midwest, Quebec, New Mexico, California and Nova Scotia.
