Montana Regional Tennessee Walking Horse Rendezvous and Versatility Show June 21st and
22nd, 2003 The Montana Tennessee Walking Horse Versatility show and Rendezvous this year is at the Four Dot Arena in Belgrade, four miles West of Bozeman. Walking horse enthusiasts will gather to show off their stuff in a variety of classes for fun and to demonstrate the smooth ground covering gaits of the breed. In addition to the rail classes where owners will demonstrate well honed gaits that make this breed famous, there will be trail obstacle classes, both novice and experienced; reining, and western riding, barrels, poles, bareback ride a buck (can you keep that dollar bill under your leg while executing your running walk?), and water glass (how long can you ride on your smooth gaited mount without spilling your glass of water?) New this year is a practice class for those who haven't yet tried showing their horse in an arena, and think they might like to enter the nervous novice class. There will be Tennessee Walkers for sale at the lunch hour on Saturday, and a Stallion Showcase later in the day. Saturday night's activities include a Bar-B-Q and gathering for all walking horse enthusiasts: trainers, breeders, simply owners, to share training techniques, trail experiences, just talk walkers. This is a great opportunity to meet other owners, to learn more about the smoothest walking horse around, and to help promote the breed. The Montana chapter of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association (TWHEAM) was organized to promote this wonderfully versatile breed in Montana and to provide opportunities for walking horse enthusiasts to get together and share experiences and training ideas. Tennessee walking horses are known for their gentle disposition and fast, ground covering running walk. This makes them ideal for the pleasure rider who wants to see a lot of country hassle free. It is not uncommon for a relative `green' rider to do very well when teamed up with a green, young animal, as the Tennessee walker generally is so willing and laid back. If you have a Tennessee walker, this is the place to be June 21-22. If you aren't an owner, but thinking maybe you would like to be one, this is also the place to be! Stalls will be available Friday night and the two arenas will be open for practice and informal socializing. We're looking forward to seeing you at the Rendezvous! Questions? More Information?
