Chunk Of Change Wins the Biggest Appaloosa Race of the Year
Moscow, ID - May 19, 2000 - The first Appaloosa stakes race was the World Wide Futurity held in 1962 in Albuquerque. Nearly fourty years later, the tradition continues at Remington Park in Oklahoma City, Okla. The Americana Appaloosa Futurity Grade 1 Stakes Race is one of the most prestigious Appaloosa racing events of the year and the results are in.The Americana Appaloosa Futurity Grade 1 Stakes Race took place on May 7, 2000 at Remington Park in Oklahoma City, Okla. This is the biggest Stakes Race of the year. The 350 yard race had a winning time of :18.32 and a total purse of $44,400.00.
First Place: CHUNK OF CHANGE, a two-year-old bay gelding, won by one and a half lengths. Sire: ROLL THE CASH(AQHA); Dam: BRICK SCHOOLHOUSE; Owner: Fred Stonesifer of Everett, PA; Trainer: Lewis Wartchow; Jockey: Roy Brooks; Earned: $18,855.00.
Second Place: POKEMON, a two-year old bay gelding, placed by a head. Sire: BULLY BULLION(AQHA); Dam: KIDDLES; Owner: Jerry and Donna Lawley of Tishomingo, OK; Trainer: Matt Whitekiller; Jockey: G.R. Carter; Earned: $8,623.00.
Third Place: GOLD MEDALS RANE, a two-year-old chestnut colt, placed by a head. Sire: BULLY BULLION(AQHA); Dam: GO RANEY CLOUD; Owner: Kin and Kay Pirtle of Norman, OK; Trainer: Lynn Sheppard; Jockey: Jimmy Brooks; Earned: $5,190.00.
