"Youth
of the Month"
My daughter, Stephanie Slauson is 15 years old and attends Lakeland High School where she is a sophomore. She has only been riding for about 4 years. Her first year was a very rough one because she was scared to death. After 2 different instructors and no improvement, I thought she'd never be able to show. We found Sandy Johnson and after about 1 month, she overcame her fear and began to excel. She has been with her now for about 2-1/2 years and after purchasing another Quarter Horse, "Ozzie" in December 2001, her riding & confidence really took off! At her first open horse show, she won the Youth High Point Award. She went on to compete in AQHA shows in Idaho & Washington. She won the AQHA Youth Rookie of the Year for the state of Idaho in 2002 and received a silver buckle and a certificate for a pair of Justin boots. She also won the year-end award buckle for the Youth Division with the Kaniksu Quarter Horse Association and the Youth Division with the Intermountain Quarter Horse Association. As you can see with a great horse and instructor, you can overcome and achieve just about anything! We couldn't be more proud of her! Submitted
