Sheriff Edwards' 9th Annual Trail Ride and Dinner Benefiting Special Olympics

Thurston County Sheriff Gary Edwards will sponsor his 9th Annual Trail Ride and Dinner to benefit Special Olympics on Saturday, August 2, 2003, at the Evergreen Sportman's Gun Club, Capital Forest, south of Olympia, near Littlerock. Riders can leave camp between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and take the 8 mile or 15 mile course. The ride donations are as follows: $20 per adult and $15 kids 13 & under/seniors 65 & over if paid by July 30, 2003. Day of the ride is $25 per adult and $20 kids 13 & under/seniors 65 & over. This includes the trail ride, hamburgers and chili feed.

For those of you that may not own a horse, you can participate in our Country Ho-Down & BBQ dinner on Friday, August 1, 2003, starting at 6:30 p.m. This will also be held at the Evergreen Sportsman's Gun Club. This event is open to everyone and the Lucky Eagle Casino will be donating the dinner. So dust off those boots and come kick up your heels! The dinner donations are as follows: $15 per adult, $10 kids 13 & under, $25 per couple if purchased by

July 30, 2003. At the door it is $20 per adults, $15 kids 13 & under, and $35 per couple.

The vision of Special Olympics is to help bring all persons with developmental disabilities into the larger society under conditions whereby they are accepted, respected and given the chance to become useful and productive citizens. The purpose of Special Olympics is to provide year round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic type sports for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

The weekend's events are part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, the largest grassroots fundraiser for Special Olympics. Special Olympics Washington is a not-for-profit organization supported entirely by private donations. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event are tax deductible will directly benefit local Special Olympic programs and athletes. Come join us for a great weekend, trail ride, delicious food and a chance to win some great prizes!! This is all for a very worthwhile cause.
