First WaFQHC Clinic in Pasco, WA

The first WaFQHC Clinic/Playday was held March 9-10 at Azlan Equestrian Center in Pasco, WA. It was a great learning experience for both the club and for the riders. Lisa Hettman, a long time NFQHA member, taught

riders about NFQHA policy and procedure. On Saturday, Lisa explained the NFQHA rules, the reasons behind them, and then worked with each exhibitor individually on the classes. There were eight classes total, with In-Hand-Trail being limited to yearlings and two-year olds, and the other seven classes for horse and rider. Lisa gave hands-on tips on how to show each horse successfully in the NFQHA.

On Sunday, Lisa judged the exhibitors in the Playday. Classes were broken down into elements to be judged, with each element being judged on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being great. Winners were picked by the score of each element being added up for a total score, and the highest total score won. Each class winner received a prize donated by one of the following: Connell Grain Growers, Doug and Debbie Buss, Renton Western Wear, KT Ranch, and R Living Legends Quarter Horses. Class winners were Dori McCary from Pasco, Donna Myers from Enumclaw, Trish Fleischer from Burbank, Rich and Ginny Howard from Benton City, and Kellie Pierson from Connell. There was also a prize given to the person that traveled the farthest, who was Albert Rujiters from Stanwood.

This was a great learning experience for all, and the WaFQHC thanks everyone who came and watched and those who participated. A special thanks goes out to those who donated prizes. Because this clinic was such a great success, we are already planning our next one!
