The North Central WA Horse Breeders' Association

The North Central Washington Horse Breeder's Association is a non-profit organization that is located in a very beautiful and unique part of the United States. The area that we encompass is somewhat sparsely populated and derives most of its economy from agriculture and recreation. Residents and visitors enjoy hot summers, great fishing and hunting and the best winter sports opportunities offered anywhere. In short, North Central Washington has something for everyone, including a diverse group of dedicated horse breeders striving to produce quality horses.

This association was formed in 1996. The purpose and scope of the association is to improve and promote the registered horse industry in North Central Washington and is open to all breeds. Our goals are to bring attention to the breeders in this area and provide avenues for our members to market their horses and services.

In a short time, the accomplishments that we have achieved include five successful stallion parades, two Stallion Service Auctions, four Breeders Sales, one Select Ranch Horse Sale and an informative NCWHBA Directory. We also have put on poker rides during the summer months for fun.

The Stallion Parade and Breeders Sale are annual events. The 2001 Stallion Parade/ Stallion Service Auction is scheduled for March 31, 2001. Preview will be at 9:00 a.m. and the parade will start at 11:00 a.m. It will be held at the Okanogan County Fairgrounds Agri-Plex Building in Okanogan, WA. The stallions will be stalled on the grounds for closer inspection before and after the parade. In the past, there have been anywhere from 33-45 stallions participate, including leading sires or cutting horses, NCHA certificate of ability horses, AQHA reining point earner, ROM Halter, numerous sons of World and National Champions, AQHA Champions and an APHA Champion to name a few! Breeds include Appaloosas, Arabians, American Walking Ponies, Fjords, Paints, Percherons, Pintos, Quarter Horses, Quarter Ponies, POA's, Shetlands, Tennessee Walkers, and Rocky Mountain Horses. This is an excellent opportunity for mare owners to meet and talk to stallion owners in person and view some of the best stallions in the Northwest, all under one roof!

During the stallion parade, stallions perform to music in the background while an announcer talks about them. There is a program given out to spectators before the parade.

A stallion service auction will also be held during the parade. A few of the stallions going through the parade will have their services auctioned off. The proceeds from the stallion service auction go toward a scholarship fund that will be presented to area graduates in 2001.

The NCW Horse Breeders Sale and Select Ranch Horse Sale will be held April 1, 2001 at the Okanogan County Fairgrounds Agri-Plex Building in Okanogan, WA. Sale preview will be at 10:00 a.m. and the sale will start at 1:00 p.m. The association is working hard to establish a quality sale that both buyers and sellers alike can count on. To obtain that goal, the breeders consign horses that they are proud of and willing to guarantee.

The ranch horses will go through a sifting process approximately one month prior to the sale. Only horses that pass the required criteria will be eligible for the sale. Criteria include...Stallions and mares must be registered, grade geldings will be accepted. Ages 3-12, easy to catch, tie, load, unload, handle feet, bridle, saddle, stand while being mounted, back, walk, lope and be ridden through a required pattern. All horses will be vet checked and guaranteed sound. This will be your chance to purchase that honest, well broke horse that you have always wanted. We will be accepting outside consignments for the Ranch Horse Sale and Breeders Sale. Entry deadline is 2-20-01. Catalogs will be available.

At this premier two-day event, there will also be good food, beverages and a Trade Show! Please consider this as your personal invitation to come and see our horses and visit the stallion owners, and breeders. We have something for everyone. Watch for our upcoming ads in the Northwest Horse publications.
