Tri-Star Futurities Pay Back $17,000 in 1999

The Tri Star futurities, in its second year, more than doubled in size in both monies and entries over its first year. The futurities are sponsored by the Kaniksu Quarter Horse Association, PBW Quarter Horse Show, and the Nez Perce County Fair Quarter Horse Show. The futurities consist of weanling halter colt/gelding, weanling halter fillies, yearling halter colt/geldings, yearling halter fillies, yearling longe line, 2 year old western pleasure, 3 year old western pleasure, and 3 & 4 year old hunter under saddle stallions that are nominated, either by the owner or other interested parties, make all of their get 4 years and under eligible to participate. There were 34 stallions nominated in 1999. This doubled the number nominated in 1998.

A Get of Sire Award is given to the stallion who's get accumulate the highest number of points. This year a crystal bowl mounted on a wooden base was given to the owners of these fine stallions. The Halter Get of Sire Award went to "Hes Obviously Smooth" owned by Walter & Gerry Dinning of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. The Performance Get of Sire Award went to Sirtainty owned by Michael & April Delong of Dalton Gardens, Idaho.

The first leg of the futurities was held at the KQHA Quarter Horse Show on August 6, 7, & 8, 1999 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The winning horse in each futurity was awarded an embroidered sheet. The second leg was held at the PBW Quarter Horse Show on September 10, 11 & 12, 1999 in Coeur d` Alene, Idaho. The winning horses were awarded a bronze statue. The third and final leg was held at the Nez Perce County Fair Quarter Horse Show on September 24, 25 & 26, 1999 in Lewiston, Idaho. The winning horses received a lettered jacket. The winners of the incentive portion of the futurities received a lettered fleece vest in addition to the money.

The get that participated in the 1999 futurities went from 23 horses in the first year to 52 horse for 1999. The following are the placings and pay back for those horses:
